Home PC Repair 101: Understanding The Fundamentals

When my youngest son's laptop suffered a sudden hard drive failure, I was struck by how little I actually knew about how to fix it - or if it could be fixed. After talking with my local technical support and computer repair specialists, I decided it was time to learn. I didn't want to find myself in a similar position again without some idea of what I could do about it. I spent months researching the logistics of computer repair and how the components worked together. That's when I realized that although computers are in so many homes, many other people are just like me - unsure how to deal with computer problems. I created this site to help solve that problem. I hope the information here helps you to demystify your home computers and the problems you might have with them.

Signs It May Be Time To Replace Your Phone's Battery

A cell phone battery typically lasts about three to five years. However, that can vary based on the type of battery you have, the type of phone you have, how frequently the phone is charged, or the type of apps and games you use on your cell phone. If your phone will not work unless it is plugged into a charger, you know the battery needs to be replaced. But, your phone will often give you more signs that the battery is nearing the end of its lifespan before that happens. Here are a few signs that it may be time to replace your phone's battery.

Your Battery Is Not Lasting As Long As It Once Did

If the battery in your phone used to last all day without needing to be charged, but now you find you need to charge your phone by lunchtime, the battery may be nearing the end of its lifespan. A battery that needs to be charged more frequently is a sign that your battery is not holding as much charge as it once did due to age and diminished charging capacity.

Your Battery Drains Fast and Unexpectedly

Another sign that may be indicative of a battery nearing the end of its lifespan is a battery that is draining fast and unexpectedly. If you have 90 percent charge on your phone, and then it suddenly drops to 75 percent, something is wrong. These sudden and unexpected drops are most frequently related to a battery that needs to be replaced.

Your SmartPhone Is Overheating

If you notice that your smartphone is overheating while the phone is being charged, your battery may be getting too hot while charging. This problem can be related to battery age, as well as damage that may have occurred to a battery if the phone was dropped. Replacing the battery can prevent the overheating you are experiencing.

You Are Experiencing Battery Bulging

Finally, if you are experiencing battery bulging, the battery in your phone needs to be replaced. Battery bulging causes the screen on your smartphone to start to lift upward and bulge. This is because the battery behind the screen is bulging. The battery can bulge due to age or damage. The problem will only worsen, so replacing the battery quickly helps to prevent other types of damage to your phone.

If you notice that the battery on your phone is not lasting as long as it once did, if you find your battery drains or drops unexpectedly, if your phone is overheating, or if you are experiencing battery bulging, it may be time to replace the battery in your phone. Reach out to a cell phone battery replacement company to learn more about the costs associated with replacing your phone's battery.
