Garnett Smallwood
Principal and Founder
Margaret
Garnett Smallwood has more than 18 years of high-technology
public relations experience, working with companies
of all sizes and all areas of technology. In 1991, she
established Garnett Communications in Richardson, Texas.
Prior to this, Margaret was vice president and general
manager of the Dallas office of Miller Communications,
an international high-technology public relations firm.
She opened Miller's Dallas office in 1984. Margaret
began her work in public relations in 1982, when she
joined a West Coast high-technology PR firm as an account
executive.
Before entering the public relations field, Margaret was a daily newspaper
reporter in California. She received many journalism
awards from national organizations, including the Society
of Professional Journalists.
Margaret received her bachelor's of arts degree with
honors in communications studies from the University
of California at Santa Barbara. She has continued her
education with graduate work at the University of Texas
at Dallas. Margaret is a member of the Public Relations
Society of America.

Kathryn Messina
PR Associate
Kathryn
Messina has been working in high-technology public relations
for more than 15 years with start-up, midsized and Fortune
100 companies.
Before joining Garnett Communications, Kathryn was a
freelance technical writer. She wrote news releases,
technical and feature articles, case histories, brochures,
data sheets, sales briefs and white papers for a variety
of high-technology and engineering companies.
Before that, Kathryn was director of account services
for MC Communications, a high-technology public relations
and advertising firm based in Dallas. She had overall
responsibility for all the public relations services
offered by the firm.
Earlier, Kathryn worked as an account supervisor with
Miller Communications, an international high-technology
public relations firm.
Kathryn has a bachelors degree in journalism from
Michigan State University.
