Back At The Desk - Gamers Trending Back To PC Game Play
Throughout history there have always been popular words and phrases that all of the young people seem to know and leave parents wondering what they mean. Some of the most popular this year are 2K18, Overwatch, Destiny 2 and the extremely popular Fortnite. Even though these are a foreign language to adults, young people everywhere know that they are the hottest video games currently on the market. While these games have been traditionally played on gaming consoles such as PlayStation and X Box, there is a dramatic shift toward playing them on PCs.
Given the portability and strong multi-player platforms available for the consoles, why would gamers choose to play on a much less mobile PC? There are multiple advances to this increasingly popular platform.
- Hardware Choices - for serious gamers, one of the drawbacks of the gaming console is that there is no availability of hardware options. One advantage enjoyed by console producers such as Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony is that they can produce millions of Machines with identical components. Always looking for an advantage, PC gamers prefer the ability to customize every aspect of their machine, from video card, CPU and RAM. This also allows the player to continually build and upgrade their system.
- Availability and Cost - individual games for gaming consoles have become increasingly expensive over the past few years. An advantage to the PC platform is the same games are often available online for a fraction of the cost. In addition, playing on a PC does not require a subscription account to play multiplayer online games like those typically required on consoles.
- Backwards Compatibility - Many gamers have drawers full of games that they bought for earlier editions of their consoles. There is unfortunately nothing that can be done to make a PlayStation 3 game playable on a PlayStation 4. Gaming PCs however can play almost any game that is or has been available in the past. Some very old games may need to be tweaked slightly but can usually be made to run on even the newest computers.
- Graphics - Even though gaming consoles have continued to improve graphics with each successive generation, they are still no match for the much more powerful graphics cards of a PC. Consoles currently are mostly limited to 720p resolution while gaming PCs are easily running at 1080p and capable of even higher.
As more and more gamers become serious about their games, the many benefits and advantages of the gaming PC will continue to drive more of these players away from the consoles and back to their computers. Contact a company, like NoogaSystems, for more help.
